What is an air filter?

2023-07-20

An air filter is a device that captures dust from the gas-solid two-phase flow and purifies the gas through the action of porous filtering materials. It purifies the air with low dust content and sends it indoors to ensure the process requirements for clean rooms and the air cleanliness in general air-conditioned rooms.

Air filter refers to an air filtration device, generally used for dust prevention in clean workshops, workshops, laboratories, and clean rooms, or for electronic, mechanical, and communication equipment. There are models such as primary efficiency filters, medium efficiency filters,high-efficiency filters, and sub high-efficiency filters. Various models have different standards and performance.

In pneumatic technology, air filters, pressure reducing valves, and oil mist eliminators are referred to as the three major components of pneumatic technology. To achieve multiple functions, these three types of air source processing components are often sequentially assembled together, known as pneumatic triplets. Used for air source purification, filtration, pressure reduction, and lubrication.

The installation sequence of the three major components is air filter, pressure reducing valve, and oil mist collector in order of intake direction. The three major components are indispensable air source devices in most pneumatic systems. They are installed near the gas equipment and are the final guarantee of compressed air quality. In addition to ensuring the quality of the three major components themselves, their design and installation should also consider factors such as space saving, convenient operation and installation, and the ability to be combined arbitrarily.
